Global Internship Base
In 2010, Beijing Normal University (BNU) launched the Global Internship Base (GIB), an annual summer program offering international students unique opportunities of conducting development-related academic research or practical work. The program is operated by the School of Social Development and Public Policy (SSDPP), a top policy school in China with strong teaching and research capacity in the field of social policy and social development. Through years of working with diverse research partners, SSDPP has maintained an extensive network in China’s development field, which has been a great learning asset for the students of SSDPP. Through GIB, SSDPP would like to extend the resource network to international students who are interested in international development and the Chinese experience. It is our hope that GIB will help deepen the understanding of China’s development by international students through research, practice and exchange with experts and other students in the field.
“Two city” summer program
The four-week “Twin City” Summer Program is hosted by Beijing Normal University (BNU) and East China Normal University (ECNU) jointly. It offers intensive small-class Chinese language course, Chinese cultural class, and serial lectures on Chinese culture and society. By spending two weeks in Beijing and Shanghai respectively, students will be able to obtain a better understanding of Chinese culture and society in the process of improving their Chinese language skills as well as experiencing different types of city life.
The bustling capital city of Beijing is the nation’s political and cultural center. It attracts numerous foreigners every day with its long history and modernized development. Beijing’s 3000 years of history is reflected in its art, architecture, music, and tradition. Among its innumerable attractions are the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, Temple of Heaven, Summer Palace, and the nearby Great Wall.
Shanghai, as the nation’s economic and financial center, offers students an unparalleled opportunity to explore China in a city undergoing economic rebirth and revitalization. The program provides students more experience on South and East part of China, more business and cultural classes and activities.
